The 51st Annual SoCal Journalism Awards

Los Angeles Press Club to Honor Robyn Dixon, Arianna Huffington and Rick Orlov at the 51^st Annual SoCal Journalism Awards Gala -- with Special Guests Bill Maher and Paula Poundstone

  

On the evening of June 14th, 2009 hundreds of journalists from Los Angeles and the Southland will gather to honor their colleagues when the Los Angeles Press Club presents its 51st Annual Southern California Journalism Awards, this year dedicated to the late Jim Bellows.  Editors, reporters and supporters of quality journalism will gather at the newly renovated Sheraton Universal in Universal City to see recipients honored for their work in broadcast, print and online media.  In addition to prizes handed out in competitive categories, we will also be presenting awards to three distinguished journalists:

 

Robyn Dixon of the Los Angeles Times will be honored with The Daniel Pearl Award (for courage in journalism). Presented by Judea Pearl.

 

Rick Orlov of  Los Angeles Daily News will be awarded The Quinn Award (for lifetime achievement). Presented by Linda Breakstone.

 

Arianna Huffington of Huffington Post will receive The President’s Award (for impact on media). With a personal introduction by Bill Maher.

 

Special Guest: PAULA POUNDSTONE

 

Presenters: Ana Garcia, George Pennacchio, Gustavo "Ask a Mexican" Arellano, Joe Morgenstern, Anthea Raymond and Alex Ben Block.

 

Attendees will be from major media outlets including Los Angeles Times, KNBC,  LA Weekly,  LA Business Journal, People Magazine, KCRW, Jewish Journal, Variety, KPCC, KCLU, Los Angeles Daily Journal, OC Weekly and many, many more. 

 

The Annual Southern California Journalism Awards is a prestigious event where top business and civic leaders, along with area politicians, rub elbows with the biggest names in Southern California media.
